The game
SlickJump is a fast-paced game of jumping, with powerful boosts to help you on your way. The goal of the game is to go as far right as you can, and so getting a better score.

To be able to run the game you'll need at least Java 1.5. The game is based on Slick and LWJGL using OpenGL technology, and will thus run more smoothly if you've got a decent graphics card.

Starting the game
The game is distributed using webstart. Start the game using the link below, and press "Run" when a window pops up.

Controls
At any time, including in mid-air, press the Spacebar to jump. Note that you can only jump as long as the power meter is not empty.
Use the arrow keys to control your ball. It is vitally important that you make use of the platforms!

Gaining and using power
To charge up the power meter, remain on one of the platforms. Your power will gradually increase until it reaches its maximum level. Each jump you perform will use up either one third of the power meter, or if you have less, all remaining power. The jump altitude is dependant on the amount of power used. Certain Powerups(see below) will also help you charge up your power.

Powerups

Reverse gravity Reverse gravity. Reverses gravity for a short while, allowing you to briefly fly upwards.
Bounceball Bounceball. When you have this powerup, the ball automatically bounces on any platform you hit. Each time you perform such a jump, you also gain one third of the power meter filled.
Sticky ball Sticky ball. This powerup will send your momentum to any platform you're on, allowing it to surf with you. While surfing, the platform can not disappear. At the end of the effect, a small upwards boost is given. Note that this powerup remains until used.
Reverse gravity Low gravity. Creates a low-gravity field around the ball, making any jumps higher.

Note also that most of these powerups stack - if you've got the low gravity and bounceball powerups, for example, your ball will automatically jump high into the air when you hit a platform. Likewise, since the time remaining on the sticky ball powerup only decreases when you're on a platform, taking the reverse gravity powerup in its duration will let you keep surfing after the reverse gravity has ended.
